Halloween Next Door

Halloween is one of the few nights people around you come right to your door, and we're inviting everyone to join us as we bring "Halloween Next Door."

In an effort to maximize impact on a night when families are naturally out and about, we want to encourage you to use invites, face to face connections, and any activities you'd like to employ to create conversation and get to know those around you better!  Statistics report 31% of people don't know all, or even any, of their neighbors, so what better night to build community?  Bring a little bit of Riverside's outreach focus into your home, down your driveway or out into your yard, and make new friends you just might be able to invite to come "Sit With You" some Sunday.

Looking for some ways to be creative as you consider ways to reach out and impact your neighborhood by showing them God's love?  Here's a few ideas to get you started:

  • Pray!  Start now to pray for opportunities to meet and engage with others
  • If you walk with other parents, introduce yourself and get to know them
  • Invite someone who lives in a rural area to join you for trick or treating
  • Give out donuts and hot chocolate
  • Fire up the grill - provide hotdogs or burgers before trick-or-treating starts
  • Make hot cider or coffee & cookies for parents who bring kids to your house
  • Host a bonfire with s'mores after trick or treating is done

We will also provide invites (beginning October 20th) you can include as you give out treats, or hand out as you meet folks, providing you an opportunity to share some of the upcoming activities Riverside has planned for families in October and November, including:

Glow Game Show for kids grades 1-5, Sunday Nov. 3rd, all campuses and all services.  Mention your invite to be entered into a drawing for Black Light Adventures!
Toy Story 4 Family Night, hosted at our Big Lake campus and geared for families with kids PreK-grade 5.  Hands-on fun for all ages, including games, inflatables and more on Friday, Nov. 8th, 5:30-7:30.  First 200 kids receive a free t-shirt!
Fallball 2019 Dodgeball Tournament for students in grades 6-12 on Sunday, Nov. 10th, 3-7 pm at the Monticello Community Center.

Invitations will also have a form link available where people can register to win a weekend family package to Great Wolf Lodge!
All prizes will be awarded Tuesday, November 5th.

Have a neighbor you love or looking for a small group activity to do together?  Team up to make things doubly good!   Plan now for a neighborhood night to remember, and look for ways to continue connecting moments with the people God has placed in your life!
